At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Assess, diagnose & treat a variety of therapeutic conditions that commonly present in their practice
  • Incorporate new guidelines to optimize patient treatment into their practice
  • Implement practice change based on knowledge acquired during the sessions

This Group learning program has been reviewed by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and is awaiting final certification by the College’s Quebec Chapter.

Insulin Management in Primary Care

  • Determine when insulin should be initiated in the diabetes treatment continuum.
  • Differentiate between the basal insulin options available.
  • Describe common barriers associated with basal insulin initiation and titration and identify strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Determine the initiation and titration of a person with type 2 diabetes starting basal insulin.
  • Describe how to switch a person from one basal insulin to another.
