Objectives for the Day

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Assess, diagnose & treat a variety of dermatologic conditions that commonly present in their practice
  • Incorporate new guidelines to optimize patient treatment into their practice
  • Implement practice change based on knowledge acquired during the sessions

This Group learning program has been reviewed by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and is awaiting final certification by the College’s Quebec Chapter.

Dr. Steve Mathieu practices dermatology in beautiful Quebec City at the CHU de Québec at the Hôpital Saint-Sacrement and at l'Enfant-Jésus as well as part-time in a general practitioners' office. He also offers his services on the North Shore of Quebec. Dr Mathieu has an interest in aesthetic dermatology and offers courses for medical students at Université de Laval and has given several training conferences to health professionals in practice.

Optimizing Acne & Skin Care Treatment For Your Patients

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish acne from other skin conditions (eg, rosacea)
  • Identify the role of topical retinoids in the management of various types and severities of acne; eg, facial, truncal, acne scarring & post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
  • Improve patient experiences and patient adherence by considering patient needs and skin types using practical tips and strategies to optimize clinical outcomes with topical acne therapies

The Many Faces of Dermatitis: Practical Options & Strategies

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and treat common dermatitis conditions
  • Select appropriate non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatments in the management of dermatitis
  • Recognize dermatitis as a chronic condition that requires long-term management and maintenance strategies
  • Establish counselling and communication practices to optimize self-management and ongoing disease control
  • Review skin care and moisturizers in management of dermatitis

Life with CSU
Getting patients off the Urticaria carousel

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify patients who have chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU)
  • Develop individualized treatment options for the management of CSU that align with the current international guideline
  • Apply early escalation strategies for patients with inadequately controlled CSU with second-generation long-acting antihistamines and recognize when to refer patients with CSU to specialist care
