After attending this day of learning, participants will be able to:
- Assess, diagnose & treat a variety of therapeutic conditions that commonly present in their practice
- Incorporate new guidelines to optimize patient treatment into their practice
- Implement practice change based on knowledge acquired during the sessions
This Group learning program has been reviewed by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and is awaiting final certification by the College’s Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba & Saskatchewan Chapters.

Dr. Winnie Su is a native Vancouverite and completed both her MD (2000) and Family Practice Residency (2002) at UBC.
After working in various settings for about a year, she established her own family practice with a partner in 2003 and now practices as part of a group of three family physicians in the Kitsilano neighbourhood of Vancouver.
As she was growing her own family, she was busy helping her patients grow theirs too as she practiced obstetrics at BC Women's Hospital until 2017.
In addition to managing a large family practice, she is an avid teacher and has been regularly involved in the training of medical students and residents.
She is passionate about Family Medicine as its own specialty and believes that a strong primary care system is truly the backbone of healthcare excellence in Canada.
When she is not working, she can be found reading, enjoying nature, and spending time with her husband and her three children.

After this session, participants will be able to:
- Discuss some of the most frequently asked questions on the topic of obesity using the latest data and evidence-based guidelines.
- Determine the most appropriate non-pharmacological and pharmacotherapy recommendations for patients with obesity and other comorbidities.
- Recognize the correlation between obesity and its impact on cardiovascular disease and outcomes.

Insulin Management in Primary Care
After this session, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate between the basal insulin options available, including once weekly basal insulin.
- Describe common barriers associated with basal insulin and identify strategies to mitigate the risk.
- Explain the pros and cons of using long-acting basal insulin analogues and identify when each option should be utilized.
- Incorporate glycemic management technology to assess the efficacy of basal insulin and mitigate safety concerns.

After this session, participants will be able to:
- Explain the pathophysiology of vasomotor symptoms (VMS) due to menopause
- Discuss the prevalence and burden of VMS due to menopause in women
- Recognize and assess VMS due to menopause in patients to determine the next course of action

After this session, participants will be able to:
- Recognize common women’s health issues and how to assess them
- Guide their female patients toward effective treatment for common issues in women’s health
- Incorporate guideline recommendations into their everyday practice re: these common issues
Dr. Monica Li is a double board-certified dermatologist with fellowship training in cosmetic and laser medicine and is Clinical Instructor at the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Li is the author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and a frequently invited speaker at national and international conferences. She is actively involved with the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Canadian Dermatology Association and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery. Dr. Li is a regular voice to local and national media.
